Comments Off on Build A Rocket at Dunfest!

Build and launch a rocket at our festival, in association with the Irish Rocketry Society!

The Irish Rocketry Society is coming to Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival to offer you the unique and educational experience of building and launching your own rocket! Register now for the Rocket Building workshop where you will receive your own Rocket Kit and be taught how to build it. You can then take part in a controlled supervised launch of your rocket in a nearby field! You can build on your own or with a small group of friends. Once launched, your rocket will return to earth and you get to take it home for future launches.

Workshops take place Friday 27th and Saturday 28th September in St. Patrick’s Hall. Suitable for years 6+

One Rocket Kit costs €20 including motors required for launching. A €5 deposit is required to secure your kit, payable at Festival Office, Old Toll House, Main Street Dunshaughlin (Open from September 9th, 11am-3.30pm, Mon-Fri). The balance must be paid on receipt of the kit during workshops on 27-28th September. Guidance will be provided to build but children under 9 will require some assistance from an adult (or older sibling). It will take max 40 minutes to build your rocket – much quicker for older kids.

Launching will take place on Saturday 28th September (between approx. 11am to 6pm). Bring your rocket to the launch area and install your motor (the explosive part which is treated with the same care as a firework!).

The launch takes place under the watchful eyes of the Irish Rocketry Society. You will get to keep your rocket but remember, the motor used to launch can only be used once. You can bring your rocket to future launches by the Irish Rocketry Society – additional motors cost approx €5. More info on
